  1. Pack your bag. Put in your bright swimsuit. Add a big, fluffy towel.

Bring a bottle of water to drink. Wear shoes that are easy to take off.

  1. Put on sunscreen. This protects your skin from the hot sun.

Do this before you get to the pool. It needs time to soak in.

  1. Enter the pool gate. Walk with a grown-up.

Do not run. The floor is wet. You might slip and fall.

  1. Find the lifeguard. Look for a person in a bright red shirt.

They sit in a tall chair. They watch the water to keep you safe.

  1. Rinse your body. Use the pool shower.

This washes away dirt. It keeps the pool water clean.

  1. Check the water depth. Look for numbers on the side.

Stay in the area where you can stand up. Ask a grown-up where to swim.

  1. Wear a life jacket. It helps you float.

Use one if you are not a strong swimmer yet. Make sure it fits tight.

  1. Listen for the whistle. A loud whistle means stop.

Look at the lifeguard right away. Follow their rules.

  1. Stay with a buddy. Never swim alone.

Always have a friend or a parent nearby. It is more fun to swim together.

  1. Take a rest. Swimming makes you tired.

Sit in the shade for a bit. Drink your water to stay cool.

  1. Clean up your toys. Pick up your ball or goggles.

Do not leave things on the ground. Someone might trip on them.

  1. Dry off. Use your towel to get dry.

Change into your clean clothes. Now you are ready to go home!
