What is culture? Culture is the way a group of people lives. It is the food you eat with your family. It is the songs you sing at school. Culture is also the holidays you celebrate each year. Every family has traditions that make them special. Some people dance to fast drums. Other people play soft flutes. When you grow up in a culture, it helps make you who you are.
Language is the set of words we use to speak and listen. There are thousands of different languages in our big world. People speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, and many more. Words help us share our thoughts and feelings. When a baby learns to talk, they learn the words of their family. These words help people connect like a warm hug. Talking to our friends helps us feel happy and safe.
Did you know that words can change how we see things? Some languages have many words for snow. People who use those words look very closely at the winter ground. Other languages have special words for being kind to older people. When children use these polite words, they learn to show respect. The words we use every single day teach us what is important. They help guide our choices.
