How to Clean Your Baseball Glove

When the baseball season ends, your glove needs care. Dirt and sweat can dry out the leather. Taking care of your glove helps it last for next spring. You will need a soft cloth, a soft brush, and leather cream.

First, brush away all the dry dirt. Use a soft brush to sweep dirt off the leather. Make sure you check between the finger slots. You can also wipe the inside where your hand goes.

Next, wipe the leather with a damp cloth. Do not use too much water on the glove. Water can make the leather hard and stiff. Gently rub the outside until the surface is clean.

Then, add a small drop of leather cream. Rub the cream in circles with a clean rag. The cream keeps the leather soft and flexible. Let the glove dry in a cool room away from hot sun.

Finally, place a baseball in the pocket of the glove. Wrap a wide rubber band around the glove to hold the ball tight. This step helps the glove keep its round shape all winter. Store your glove in a safe place until next season.
