Nikola Tesla: The Master of Electricity

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 in a small village in what is now Croatia. From a young age, he was fascinated by the mysterious power of lightning and thunderstorms. Tesla possessed an extraordinary imagination and could design complex machines entirely in his mind before building them. He dreamed of finding new ways to harness invisible energy to improve human life.
In 1884, Tesla moved to the United States with only a few cents in his pocket and a head full of ambitious ideas. At the time, cities were just beginning to use electricity, but the direct current (DC) system used by most engineers could only send power across very short distances. Tesla designed a revolutionary system called alternating current (AC). AC electricity was far more efficient because it could travel hundreds of miles through wires to light up entire towns, factories, and homes.
Tesla partnered with businessman George Westinghouse to prove that AC power was the best choice for the world. In 1893, they used AC electricity to illuminate the famous Chicago World's Fair, dazzling millions of visitors with thousands of glowing bulbs. Soon after, Tesla helped build the world’s first major hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls. The rushing water spun massive generators, sending electricity all the way to the city of Buffalo, New York.
Throughout his life, Tesla invented many other incredible devices, including the Tesla coil and early remote-controlled technology. Although he faced many challenges, his brilliant vision laid the foundation for modern power grids, radio, and wireless technology. Today, Nikola Tesla is remembered as a visionary inventor whose creative genius helped bring electricity to the modern world.
