Characters:

  • HOLDEN: An 11-year-old boy with bright blond hair and blue eyes. He is curious and brave.
  • TOTTO: Holden's fluffy, brown dog. He is energetic and surprisingly good at communicating.
  • MARIO: The famous, cheerful hero of the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • BOWSER JR.: A mischievous little troublemaker flying in his small clown car.

Holden: (Looking around in awe) Totto, I don't think we are in our backyard anymore. Look at those giant glowing mushrooms and floating brick blocks!

Totto: (Panting happily and wagging his tail) Woof! My nose tells me we have warped into a video game, Holden. And it smells like... fresh pizza?

Mario: (Jumping into view with a wave) Mamma mia! Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom, friends! I saw you fall through the warp pipe.

Bowser Jr.: (Flying down in his Junior Clown Car, laughing loudly) Not so fast, Mario! This forest is my playground now, and I just swiped the golden key to the next level!

Holden: Hey! You can't just take things that don't belong to you! My name is Holden, and we are going to help Mario get that key back!

Totto: (Growling playfully) Yeah! Give it back, or I will shake my fluffy brown tail at you! Or, you know, bark really loudly!

Mario: Thank you, Holden and Totto! Bowser Jr., let's make a deal. A race to the top of the checkered hill. If we win, you return the golden key.

Bowser Jr.: (Smirking and tossing the key in the air) A race? Against a plumber, a kid, and a fluffy brown pillow with legs? You are on!

Holden: Don't underestimate us! Totto, use your super dog speed!

Totto: (Sprinting in place) I am the fastest fluffball in the world! Let's go!

Mario: Yahoo! Let's-a go!

(They all race forward. Bowser Jr. flies ahead, but Totto spots a secret path.)

Totto: Look! A hidden shortcut behind that green bush! Follow me!

Holden: Great eye, Totto! Mario, leap over that ledge!

Mario: (Leaping high) Ho-ho! Perfect jump!

(They cross the finish line just as Bowser Jr. arrives, looking shocked.)

Bowser Jr.: What? No fair! How did you get here so fast?

Holden: Teamwork and a dog's great sense of smell!

Bowser Jr.: (Sighing, tossing the key to Mario) Fine, you won fair and square. But next time, I will win!

Mario: Thanks, everyone! You are official heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom!

Totto: Woof-tastic! Now, can we go find that pizza?
