The Biggest Soccer Tournament Ever!
Every four years, millions of people get excited for the world's biggest soccer tournament. In 2026, this huge event is going to be bigger and more exciting than ever before. There will be two major changes. First, many more countries will get to play. Second, three different countries will host the games together: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In the past, only 32 teams got to play in the tournament. In 2026, the number of teams will grow to 48. This is great news because it means more players from places like Africa and Asia can join the fun. Because there are more teams, there will also be more games. Instead of the usual 64 matches, there will be 104 matches! This means weeks of exciting sports to watch with family and friends.
Hosting the tournament is also a big deal. Usually, just one country hosts all the games. But in 2026, three countries are working as a team. This has never happened before! Mexico is famous for hosting the games twice in the past. The United States hosted once before in 1994. Canada has hosted the women's tournament, but this will be its first time hosting the men's games.
