The Story and Recipe of Brazilian Cheese Bread

Long ago in Brazil, farmers had a special root. It was called the cassava root.
They ground it up to make a fine white flour. This flour is called tapioca flour.
Later, people added cheese and milk to the flour. They baked it into warm, soft rolls.
They called this bread Pão de Queijo. That means "cheese bread" in Portuguese!
Today, children in Brazil love to eat this snack. You can make this yummy bread at home too!
What You Need:
- 2 cups of tapioca flour
- 1 cup of shredded cheese
- 1 egg
- Half a cup of milk
- Three spoons of oil
- A pinch of salt
What to Do:
Step 1: Ask a grown-up to turn the oven to 375 degrees. Warm up the milk, oil, and salt in a small pot.
Step 2: Pour the warm milk mix over the flour in a bowl. Stir it well with a big spoon and let it cool.
Step 3: Stir in the egg and the cheese. Use your clean hands to mix it into a soft dough.
Step 4: Roll the dough into small, round balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet.
Step 5: Bake the bread for fifteen minutes. The balls will puff up and turn light gold.
Eat them while they are warm and cheesy!
