The crisp fall wind blew through the tall woods.
Bright red, orange, and yellow leaves fluttered down from the trees.
Sammy the squirrel ran across the cool grass.
His fluffy gray tail twitched with excitement.
His friend Pip the bunny hopped over a mossy log.
Pip wiggled his pink nose and looked at Sammy.
"Look at all these colorful leaves!" Sammy chattered.
"We can build the biggest pile in the forest," Pip said with a hop.
Sammy used his tiny paws to push the dry leaves.
Pip used his strong feet to kick more leaves into the center.
Soon, the pile was very tall and round.
It smelled sweet and fresh like autumn.
"Ready, set, jump!" called Pip.
Both friends leaped high into the air.
Crunch! They landed right in the middle of the soft pile.
Golden leaves flew up into the sunny sky.
Leaves stuck to Sammy's ears and Pip's warm fur.
The two friends giggled and tossed leaves at each other.
A gentle breeze swirled around them as they played until the sun went down.
