Every word in a sentence has a specific job to do, which we call its part of speech. For example, a noun names a person, place, or thing, while an adjective describes that noun. In the sentence 'The energetic dog barked loudly,' *dog* is the noun, *energetic* is the adjective describing the dog, *barked* is the action verb, and *loudly* is the adverb telling us how it barked. Recognizing these roles helps you build stronger, clearer sentences!
