Dear Mr. Gable,

Thank you so much for letting our second-grade class borrow your big box of costumes! We used them today for our community helpers play, and everyone had a wonderful time.

My friend Mia wore the yellow firefighter hat and the yellow jacket. The shiny silver badge on the front made her feel like a real hero. I wore the dark blue mail carrier vest. It had two deep pockets in the front. I put our pretend letters and postcards right inside them so they would not blow away.

Leo loved the doctor coat the most. The stethoscope was his favorite part. He walked around checking everyone's heartbeat before the play even started. Even our teacher, Ms. Lopez, put on the chef apron and the tall white hat when she helped us introduce the show!

The costumes helped us look like real workers in our town. They also helped our parents know who each person was when we walked onto the stage. We did not feel nervous because we were having so much fun pretending.

My classmates and I folded every jacket, apron, and vest very carefully. We placed the hats gently on top so they will not get crushed. My mom and I will walk the box back across the street to your front porch after school tomorrow.

Thank you again for being such a kind and generous neighbor!

Your neighbor,

Sam Rivera
