Dear Diary,

Today was the best day ever. We are in a city called Venice.

Venice is in Italy. This city is built on water!

There are no cars here. There are no big buses.

People ride in boats to go to school. They ride in boats to go to the shop.

We went on a special black boat. It is called a gondola.

A nice man stood at the back. He used a long wood pole to push us.

The water was very quiet. We went under old stone bridges.

My mom told me how the city was made. Men put big wood logs in the wet mud long ago.

The houses sit on top of the logs. It is like magic.

The water splashed my hand. It felt cold and salty.

I saw a cat on a stone step. The cat was looking at the fish.

I love this wet city. I want to live in a boat forever.
