Every year on the first Wednesday in June, people around the world take part in Global Running Day. This special event is not a race where only the fastest person wins a prize. Instead, it is a worldwide celebration of physical activity, health, and friendship.

The main idea behind the day is simple: moving your body helps you feel good. When you run, your heart pumps oxygen through your blood, and your muscles grow stronger. Being active also helps your brain release chemicals that can improve your mood and help you focus. Because of this, schools, neighborhoods, and running clubs organize group events so people can get moving together.

Global Running Day is designed for everyone, no matter their ability or experience. While some runners might jog several miles along city streets, others choose to run a single lap around a school track. People do not even have to run on their feet. Many participants walk, skip, or use wheelchairs and adapted racing chairs. The goal is simply to celebrate movement in whatever way works best for each person.
