Max was a big dog. He had brown fur and a long tail.

Max lived in a cozy house. He had a soft bed and many toys.

One day, a new friend came to the house. It was a small cat named Mittens.

Mittens had white paws and a pink nose. She looked very sweet.

Max saw Mittens and let out a loud bark. Mittens was scared.

She ran away fast. She hid under a tall chair.

Max felt sad. He wanted to say hello to the cat.

He wagged his tail slowly. He sat down and stayed very still.

Mittens looked out from under the chair. She saw that Max was not mean.

She walked out to him. She sniffed the dog's nose.

Max had a bright yellow ball. He pushed it toward Mittens.

Mittens tapped the ball with her paw. The ball rolled back to Max.

Max and Mittens played for a long time. They ran across the soft rug.

They jumped over a small box. They had so much fun together.

Now, Max and Mittens are best friends. They sleep next to each other every day.

They share the big bed. They share the fun toys in the room.

A dog and a cat can be very good friends. They like to be a team.

Max licks Mittens on the ear. Mittens purrs a happy song for Max.

They are both very happy in their cozy home. It is a good day to play.

Mittens and Max will be friends for a long time. They are happy together.
