Annual Massachusetts Taste and Tradition Day!
Attention Students, Families, and Staff!
Get ready to celebrate the rich history and delicious flavors of our home state! Next Friday, October 18, Oak Creek Elementary will host our annual Massachusetts Taste and Tradition Day in the school cafeteria and courtyard from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
This special event gives students a chance to explore local history through their senses. Local farms and community chefs are partnering with our school cafeteria to serve authentic dishes that highlight famous symbols of Massachusetts.
Event Highlights:
- The Chowder Station: Warm up with a fresh, savory spoonful of traditional New England clam chowder. Learn how coastal communities have made this hearty soup for generations.
- The Berry Patch: Stop by the fruit booth to try a crisp, tart cranberry—the official state berry of Massachusetts! Local growers will demonstrate how cranberries are harvested in shallow bogs across the state.
- Historic Baked Goods: Sample sweet corn muffin bites and learn about traditional recipe ingredients used by early settlers and Native Americans.
In addition to food tasting, student groups will display colorful poster presentations in the courtyard showing key landmarks from Boston to the Berkshires. There will also be a trivia contest with fun prizes for students who can answer questions about state history!
Important Details for Families: Admission is free for all students. Family members are welcome to join during their child's scheduled lunch period.
