Bella's Big Win!

Bella loved to spell. She liked to learn new words. Today was the big day! It was the class spelling bee.

Bella felt a little scared. So many eyes were on her! She took a deep breath. The teacher said, "Bella, your word is 'happy'."

Bella smiled. She knew that word! "H-A-P-P-Y, happy!" she said. Ding! The bell rang. She spelled it right!

One by one, other kids took turns. Some spelled words right. Some did not. Bella kept spelling words right. The words got harder.

Then, it was just Bella and her friend, Tom. Tom was a good speller too. The teacher said, "Tom, your word is 'friend'." Tom spelled it right!

Now it was Bella's turn again. "Bella, your word is 'excited'." Bella took a deep breath. "E-X-C-I-T-E-D, excited!" Ding! Right again!

Finally, Tom missed a word. Now Bella had to spell one last word to win. The teacher said, "Bella, your word is 'wonderful'."

Bella smiled. "W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L, wonderful!" she said. Ding! Ding! Ding! The bell rang three times! Bella won!

Bella's friends cheered. They were so happy for her! Bella felt good. It felt good to win. But it felt even better to have friends who were happy for her. The best part was the happy feeling she got when her friends cheered for her. Winning was fun, but friends were better!
