Mississippi is also famous for sweet potatoes. A sweet potato is a bright orange vegetable. It grows deep under the brown dirt. It needs warm sun and rich soil to grow. Farmers dig them up in the fall.
Farming in Mississippi has changed over time. Long ago, farmers used horses to pull plows. Now, farmers use big tractors to work the fields. The warm countryside is still a great place to farm. Farmers send cotton and sweet potatoes all over the country.
