Flicker Finds His Light
Flicker was a little firefly. He lived in a big, green park. All the other fireflies loved the night. They loved to blink and glow. But Flicker? He was afraid of the dark.
Every night, Flicker would hide. He hid under big leaves. He hid behind tall flowers. He didn't want to glow. He didn't want to fly. He just wanted the sun to come back.
One night, Flicker heard a tiny cry. "Help!" a little voice said. Flicker peeked out from under a leaf. He saw a baby bird. The baby bird had fallen from its nest. It was all alone and very scared. It was too dark for the bird to see.
Flicker knew he had to help. He took a deep breath. He blinked his light. It was a small blink, but it was there. The baby bird saw the light. "Are you here to help me?" the bird asked.
Flicker blinked again, brighter this time. He flew closer to the bird. He glowed as bright as he could. The bird could see Flicker. It could also see the way back to its nest. Flicker led the baby bird home. The bird's mommy was very happy.
From that night on, Flicker wasn't afraid anymore. He knew his light could help others. He flew with the other fireflies. He blinked and glowed, happy to light up the night.
