Galileo Galilei was a famous scientist and inventor who lived a long time ago. He is often called the "father of observational astronomy" because of all the amazing things he discovered by looking at the sky. Let's learn about his life!
Early Life and Education
Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1564. Even as a young boy, he loved to learn. His father wanted him to become a doctor, so Galileo went to the University of Pisa to study medicine. But Galileo was more interested in math and science. He started studying those subjects instead, and he became very, very good at them.
Inventions and Discoveries
Galileo made many important discoveries. He improved the telescope, which made it much easier to see things far away. With his telescope, Galileo could see things in space that no one had ever seen before! He saw mountains and craters on the Moon. He also discovered four moons orbiting Jupiter. These discoveries helped to prove that not everything in space revolved around the Earth, as people had believed for a long time.
