Lily's Big Race

Lily loved to run. She ran in her backyard. She ran at the park. One day, Lily saw a sign. It said, "Fun Run!" The run was long. It was one mile. Lily felt scared. A mile is very, very long.

Lily told her mom, "I don't know if I can do it." Her mom smiled. "You are a fast runner, Lily. Just try your best."

The day of the race came. So many kids were there! Lily felt even more scared. She saw her friend, Tom. Tom said, "Hi, Lily! This will be fun!"

The race started. Lily started running. She ran fast at first. Then, she felt tired. Other kids ran past her. Lily felt sad. She wanted to stop. But then, she thought of her mom. Her mom said to try her best.

Lily started running again. She ran slowly. She ran one step at a time. She saw the finish line! Her mom and dad were cheering. "You can do it, Lily!" they shouted.

Lily ran as fast as she could. She crossed the finish line! She did it! Lily felt so happy. She learned that even when things are hard, she can do it if she tries her best.
