My Camp Diary at Lake Chicot
June 5
Today we got to our camp. We are at Lake Chicot State Park.
This lake is very big. It is the biggest oxbow lake in the land.
An oxbow lake is shaped like a giant C. It looks like a big blue noodle on the map.
We set up our tent by the water. I cannot wait to see more tomorrow.
June 6
We went out on a boat today. The water was as flat as a mirror.
I saw big trees growing right in the water. They are called bald cypress trees.
They have wide bottoms to help them stand. They look like they have big wooden knees.
The knees stick up out of the wet mud. They look like little wooden dolls.
June 7
Today was our last day at the lake. I saw a big white bird fly past.
It landed on a branch of a cypress tree. The sun was setting behind the trees.
The lake looked like it was on fire with red light. I will miss this pretty park.
I want to write in my diary here again soon. Goodbye, Lake Chicot!
