NARRATOR: It is 5:42 PM on October thirty-first. In Maya's dimly lit basement, three eighth graders lean over an oversized folding table. Spread across the surface is a hand-drawn, color-coded topological map of the Oakridge subdivision.
MAYA: (Tapping the map with a yellow highlighter) Attention, team. Standard operational window: one hundred and twenty minutes. Sunset occurs at 6:05 PM, which gives us exactly thirty minutes of twilight clearance before the sidewalk congestion index peaks.
SAM: (Holding up an empty, heavy-duty pillowcase) We also need to calculate cargo weight. A standard pillowcase filled with miniature chocolate bars reaches approximately twelve pounds. That creates a noticeable drag coefficient after kilometer three.
LEO: Who cares about drag coefficients? Did you see the flyer from 412 Whispering Pines? Mr. Henderson bought actual, full-sized caramel crunch bars. Not the bite-sized ones! Huge, glorious rectangles of pure sugar!
