Our Amazing Planet Earth

Earth is our home, and it's a pretty special place! It's the third planet from the Sun, and it's the only planet we know of that can support life. Let's explore what makes Earth so unique.

What is Earth Made Of?

Earth has several layers. The outermost layer is the crust, which is like the skin of an apple. It's made of rock and soil. Underneath the crust is the mantle, a thick layer of hot, molten rock. The center of the Earth is the core, which is mostly made of iron. The outer core is liquid, and the inner core is solid.

Water and Land

About 71% of Earth's surface is covered in water. This water is found in oceans, lakes, rivers, and even underground! The remaining 29% is land, which forms continents and islands. The land provides habitats for many different plants and animals.

Earth's Atmosphere

Earth is surrounded by a layer of gases called the atmosphere. The atmosphere protects us from harmful rays from the Sun and keeps the planet warm enough for us to live. It's made up mostly of nitrogen and oxygen, which we breathe.

Why is Earth Special?

Earth is special because it has liquid water, a breathable atmosphere, and a suitable temperature range for life. Plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make food through a process called photosynthesis. Animals eat plants or other animals for energy.

Caring for Earth

It's important to take care of our planet. We can reduce pollution by recycling and conserving energy. We can also protect habitats by planting trees and avoiding littering. By working together, we can keep Earth healthy and beautiful for future generations.
