Paco was a bright green parrot. He lived in a big pet shop.
The shop was very loud. The other birds liked to talk.
"Hello!" said one bird. "Good morning!" said another bird.
They made a lot of noise. They liked to scream and whistle.
Paco was not like them. Paco was a quiet parrot.
He did not like to talk. He liked to listen to the soft wind.
He liked to look out the window. He liked to watch the white clouds.
Paco felt shy when people came near. He would hide his head under his wing.
One day, a girl came into the shop. Her name was Mia.
Mia was very quiet too. She did not run or shout.
She walked slowly to Paco's cage. She sat down on a small chair.
The other birds were very loud. They wanted Mia to look at them.
"Watch me!" said a blue bird. "I am pretty!" said a red bird.
Mia did not look at them. She looked at Paco.
Paco did not hide his head. He looked back at Mia.
He saw that Mia was reading a book. The book had pictures of trees.
Paco moved closer to the bars. He wanted to see the green trees.
Mia smiled a tiny smile. She did not say a word.
Paco felt very happy. He felt very safe with Mia.
He opened his beak just a little. He did not say "Hello."
Instead, he made a soft sound. It sounded like a happy sigh.
Mia leaned in and whispered. "I like you, Paco," she said.
Paco liked her too. He flapped his wings slowly.
