Percy the Pangolin's Perfect Armor

Percy the pangolin lived in a lush, green forest. He loved his home, but he didn't love his scales. "They're so bumpy and brown," he grumbled. "Why can't I have smooth, colorful fur like the monkeys or bright, feathery wings like the parrots?"

One sunny morning, Percy decided he’d had enough. He was going to disguise himself! First, he gathered shiny, green leaves and tried to stick them to his scales. He looked like a walking salad. "Too crunchy," he sighed. Then, he found some bright blue berries and smeared them all over his body. Now, he looked like a blueberry monster. "Too sticky!" he cried, as ants began to crawl on him.

Feeling defeated, Percy slumped near a muddy puddle. Suddenly, Freddie the field mouse scurried up to him, his whiskers twitching with fear. "Percy, help! A hungry hawk is circling above!"

Percy, still covered in berries and leaves, did the only thing he knew how to do. He curled into a tight ball. His scales hardened, forming a perfect shield. The hawk swooped down, but it couldn’t pierce Percy’s armor. Frustrated, the hawk flew away.

Freddie peeked out from under a mushroom. "Wow, Percy! Your scales saved me! They're amazing!"

Percy uncurled slowly. He looked at his scales in a new light. They weren't just bumpy and brown; they were strong and protective. They were part of what made him, him. From that day on, Percy never tried to disguise himself again. He embraced his unique armor, knowing that what made him different also made him special and strong.
