Dear Principal Thompson,

My name is Sarah, and I'm a student in Mrs. Davis's fourth-grade class. I'm writing to you today to talk about something important: letting us choose our own study partners.

Right now, Mrs. Davis picks our study partners, but I think it would be better if we could pick them ourselves. Here's why:

  • We learn better with friends! When we get to pick our partner, we are more comfortable. Being comfortable helps us to ask questions. Asking questions helps us to learn.
  • It's more fun! Let's be honest: learning is better when it's fun! Choosing our friends makes studying more fun! We can share our favorite snacks and even have a little laugh sometimes.
  • We can pick partners with skills that match what we need to learn! If I am having trouble with Math, I should get to pick someone who is great at Math. They can help me learn those concepts.

I know that you might be worried that we won't pick the "right" partners. But I promise that we will all try our best to make good choices. And when we make mistakes, we will learn from them!

So, please think about letting us pick our own study partners. I think it will help us learn better, make studying more fun, and teach us how to make good choices.

Thank you for listening!

Sincerely,

Sarah
