Rajesh the Reading Tiger

Deep in the Sundarbans, where the mangrove trees grew tall and tangled, lived a tiger named Rajesh. But Rajesh wasn't like the other tigers. While they loved to hunt and nap in the sun, Rajesh loved to read!

A Peculiar Discovery

One day, a small wooden box washed ashore during a storm. The other tigers ignored it, but Rajesh was curious. He nudged it open with his nose and found it filled with books! They were old and worn, but Rajesh could make out the colorful pictures and strange symbols inside. He spent hours tracing the shapes with his paw, wondering what they meant.

Learning to Read

A kind old fisherman named Mr. Das saw Rajesh’s interest. Mr. Das had lost his own family during a flood. He felt sympathy for the tiger, and decided to help the tiger. So, slowly, Mr. Das began teaching Rajesh how to read. Every day, they would meet at the edge of the forest. Mr. Das would point to a letter, say its name, and Rajesh would try to repeat it. It was hard work, but Rajesh was determined.

Sharing the Magic

Soon, Rajesh was reading stories aloud. He read about brave knights, faraway lands, and magical creatures. The other animals in the forest gathered to listen. Even the other tigers, who had once laughed at Rajesh, were now captivated by his stories. Rajesh had brought a new kind of magic to the Sundarbans – the magic of reading.

Rajesh loved reading. He continued to read to all the animals, sharing stories for many years.
