Rolling Cart Brings Easy Book Returns to Hallways

On Monday morning, students and staff launched the "Rolling Book Return," a new mobile cart designed to make returning library books faster and easier. Instead of waiting for their weekly library class, students can now drop off finished books in the main hallway right outside the cafeteria during morning arrival.
The new program operates every morning from 8:00 a.m. until 8:25 a.m. The bright blue cart has two wide shelves, smooth rubber wheels, and a drop bin lined with soft fabric to protect book covers from damage. Each day, two trained student helpers from the third grade roll the cart into the hallway. When classmates drop books into the bin, the helpers neatly stack them with the spines facing outward. At 8:30 a.m., the helpers guide the cart back to the library so the librarian can scan the barcodes before morning classes begin.
