Indiana Dunes is a special national park in Indiana. It sits right next to a giant lake called Lake Michigan.

The park has big hills made of soft sand. These big sand hills are called dunes.

Wind pushes the sand up from the lake. Over time, the sand builds up into huge piles.

Many animals make their homes in the dunes. Little birds run along the wet shore.

Frogs splash in the quiet ponds behind the hills. Deer walk softly through the cool green woods.

Plants grow here that do not grow in many other places. Tough grass holds the shifting sand in place.

Bright flowers bloom near the trails in the spring. Trees grow tall where the wind is quiet.

Visitors love to visit the sandy beaches. You can walk up the big sand dunes and slide down.

You can listen to the waves crash on the shore. Indiana Dunes is a wonderful place to explore nature.
