Sofia and the Ofrenda

Sofia smiled as she walked into the living room. Her grandmother, Abuela Rosa, stood by a wooden table.
Today was a special day of celebration and remembrance. They were ready to build the family ofrenda.
"Come help me, Sofia," Abuela said with a warm smile. Sofia ran to the table with a bright yellow cloth.
Together, they spread the cloth over the tabletop. Then, Sofia placed bright orange marigold flowers on top.
The flowers smelled sweet and fresh in the room. "The bright petals help guide our family home," Abuela explained.
Next, Sofia carefully held a framed picture of her great-grandfather. He was wearing a big hat and smiling wide in the photograph.
Sofia set the picture gently in the center of the table. Abuela placed two sweet sugar skulls and a small loaf of bread beside it.
They turned on small candles that flickered with a warm, golden glow. The table was full of bright colors, sweet treats, and soft light.
Sofia looked at the smiling faces in the photos and held Abuela's hand. She felt proud and happy to remember her family with love.
