Steph was born in 1988 in Akron, Ohio, but he grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. His father, Dell Curry, was also a professional basketball player in the NBA. Because his dad played the sport, Steph grew up around basketball courts and locker rooms. He spent many hours practicing his shot in the backyard. Even though he loved the game, some coaches thought he would never be a star. When he was a teenager, he was much thinner and shorter than many other players his age.

He went to Davidson College, which was a small school that did not have a famous basketball team. During his time there, he led his team to many surprising victories. People all across the country started to notice his incredible talent. He proved that you do not have to be the biggest person on the court to be the best player.

In 2009, Steph joined the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He became famous for his "three-point shot." Before Steph, most teams tried to score points by getting as close to the hoop as possible. Steph showed that shooting from far away could be a better way to win games. He helped his team win several championships and was named the Most Valuable Player, or MVP, two times.
