The Big Clock Countdown

Characters:
- Narrator
- Maya
- Leo
- Sam
Setting: A corner of the school cafeteria, twenty minutes before afternoon assembly.
Narrator: Four chairs sit in a small circle near the cafeteria stage. Maya holds a clipboard with four colored markers. Leo holds a cardboard box filled with painted paper leaves. Sam paces in front of the empty chairs, checking the wall clock every few seconds.
Sam: Look at the hands on that clock! We only have fifteen minutes before Mr. Ruiz calls everyone into the cafeteria. We still do not have an ending for our forest skit, and nobody knows who will speak the final poem.
Maya: Pacing will not give us more minutes, Sam. Let us look at what we already have. We have three great scenes. We just need a clear plan so we do not waste our remaining time arguing.
Leo: Maya is right. If we try to build a huge new scene right now, we will stumble over our lines. What if we keep the ending simple? Instead of memorizing eight new rhyming lines, we could all speak the poem together as a chorus.
Narrator: Sam stops pacing and taps his chin, considering the idea. Maya clicks her blue marker and draws three boxes on her paper.
