Seizing the opportunity, a rival firm worked around the clock, engineering their own recipe and rapidly shipping their version to supermarkets first. The product was an immediate sensation; initial shipments sold out in mere weeks, forcing factories to scramble to meet the overwhelming public appetite.

Later improvements required even more culinary ingenuity.
