The Giant Pandas of the Misty Mountains

High up in the mountains of China, the air is cold and wet. Thick, white mist hangs in the green trees.
This beautiful place is the home of the giant panda. Pandas love the cool and quiet forest.
A giant panda has thick black and white fur. This warm coat keeps the panda warm in the cold mist.
Pandas spend most of their day doing one thing. They love to eat sweet green bamboo.
Bamboo is a very tall and woody grass. Pandas use their strong teeth to crunch the hard stalks.
They must eat a lot of bamboo every single day. Eating keeps them happy and full.
In the past, pandas lost many of their forest homes. People cut down the trees to build roads and houses.
Now, kind people are working hard to save the pandas. They protect the forests so the pandas have a safe place to live.
Today, more wild pandas are living in the misty mountains. These amazing bears can grow and play in peace.
