[SCENE START]
NARRATOR: The afternoon sun slants through the tall windows of Room 204 at Oak Ridge Middle School in North Carolina. Desks are shoved back to form a makeshift theater. At the front stands Holden, an energetic eleven-year-old whose spiky blonde hair seems to defy gravity almost as much as his freckled, grinning confidence.
HOLDEN: (Bowing dramatically, flourishing a black cape over his school hoodie) Ladies, gentlemen, and esteemed scholars of American history! Prepare to witness the impossible. I am no longer merely Holden Parker. Today, I am... The Great Holdini!
MAYA: (Stepping forward with a large tri-fold poster covered in historic newspaper clippings) And I am his assistant, Maya, who made sure this presentation actually satisfies the state social studies curriculum rubric.
