The Heart of Room 3B
On Friday morning, Room 3B was filled with excitement. Red and pink paper hearts hung from the whiteboard, and colorful paper bags lined the back counter. It was the day of the annual Valentine card exchange, and every student had brought a decorated bag to collect messages from their classmates.
Leo sat at his desk, holding a plain shoebox. While many of his friends had brought shiny, store-bought cards with foil wrappers and plastic toys, Leo had spent his evening making something different. He had cut bright blue construction paper into simple hearts and written a personal message on every single one. He wanted to make sure no one in the class felt left out, especially the quieter students who were sometimes overlooked during games at recess. Still, looking at the glossy boxes on other desks, Leo felt a tiny swirl of doubt in his stomach. Would anyone care about simple paper notes?
"Alright, class, time to deliver your valentines!" announced Mr. Davis with a warm smile.
