The Magic Red Bridge
Leo and Mia walked in the soft rain. They saw the big red bridge ahead.
It was the West Cornwall Covered Bridge. It looked like a long wooden tunnel.
They stepped inside the dry bridge. The rain made a tap-tap sound on the roof.
The wood under their feet was very old. It was built a long, long time ago.
"Imagine we are in the year 1880," Mia said. She looked down the dark wooden lane.
"Yes!" Leo said with a big smile. "We would not ride in a fast car today."
"We would ride in a horse carriage," Mia said. They heard the wind blow through the cracks.
They closed their eyes to listen close. They pretended to hear clattering horse hooves.
They imagined the sound of wooden wheels. People in long coats walked by them in their minds.
The old red bridge felt like a time machine. It kept them safe from the cold rain.
Soon, the rain stopped falling down. They walked out into the bright green grass.
They looked back at the beautiful red bridge. They loved their trip to the past.
