The Puppet Surprise

Characters:
- Narrator
- Ben
- Mia
Narrator: It is puppet time in room four.
Two children stand near a big cardboard box.
Ben: (waving a brown dog puppet) Look at my dog!
Woof, woof! He can jump high.
Mia: (holding a green frog puppet) Ribbit, ribbit!
My frog hops on a green lily pad.
Narrator: Mia looks across the carpet.
She sees Sam sitting all by himself.
Mia: Look over there, Ben.
Sam is holding a blue puppet, but he looks sad.
Ben: Maybe he wants to play with us.
Let us ask him to talk.
Mia: Sam is very quiet today.
Talking might feel too big right now.
Narrator: Ben taps his chin and thinks.
He wants Sam to feel welcome.
Ben: I have an idea!
Our puppets need a happy home to visit.
Mia: Yes! Sam has a blue bird puppet.
He can hold the big golden nest.
Narrator: Mia and Ben walk over to Sam's desk.
They smile at him.
Ben: Hi, Sam. Would you like to make the wind sound?
Or you can hold the nest for our puppets.
Mia: You do not have to say any words.
Your bird can just fly and land.
Narrator: Sam looks up and smiles.
He holds up the nest and makes a soft whoosh sound.
