The Secret Language of Feathers

Characters:
- LEO: A young village boy who accidentally discovered a magical folktale secret.
- BARNABY: An old, dramatic barn owl with ruffled feathers and a booming voice.
LEO: [puzzled and blinking hard] Excuse me... did you just say that the morning wind smells like crunchy beetles?
BARNABY: [indignant and ruffled] Of course I did! And it does! The real question is why an ordinary human boy is eavesdropping on my breakfast thoughts. Feathers and fluff! You are not supposed to understand me!
LEO: [shocked and gasping] You are talking! Actual words! Human words! Or... wait, am I chirping? I ate that strange glowing berry near the village well this morning, and now my ears feel like warm honey.
BARNABY: [suspicious and glaring] You ate the Sun-Drop Berry? The sacred fruit of the Ancient Woods? By the great mossy tree, boy, that ancient folktale was supposed to keep wandering children away! Nobody has spoken the wild tongue in three hundred years!
LEO: [nervous and trembling] I didn't mean to break a three-hundred-year-old secret! I was just hungry before breakfast chores. Oh no, is my nose going to turn into a beak? Am I going to grow feathers?
