Exploring the Texas State Capitol

Have you ever seen a really big and important building? The Texas State Capitol is one of those! It's located in Austin, the capital city of Texas. This building is where the leaders of Texas meet to make laws for the whole state.

What Does the Capitol Do?

The Capitol is like the headquarters for Texas government. It's where the Senate and the House of Representatives come together. These groups of people are elected by the citizens of Texas. They talk about what's important for the state, like schools, roads, and helping people in need. Then, they vote to make these ideas into laws.

A Look Inside

When you walk inside the Capitol, you'll see lots of interesting things. There are big rooms where the Senate and House meet. These rooms are called chambers. People can come and watch the leaders talk and make decisions. There are also many offices for the Governor and other important people who help run Texas.

The Capitol Dome

One of the most special parts of the Capitol is the dome. It's a big, round roof that sits on top of the building. At the very top of the dome, there's a statue of the Goddess of Liberty. She stands tall and represents freedom for everyone in Texas. From far away, you can see the dome shining in the sun, reminding everyone of the important work that happens inside the Capitol.

A Place for Everyone

The Texas State Capitol is more than just a building; it's a place where the future of Texas is decided. It belongs to all the people of Texas, and everyone is welcome to visit and learn about how the government works.
