The Windy Kansas Prairie
NARRATOR: Long ago, a family moved to Kansas. The wind blew hard every day.
PA: We need to build a house! The wind is very strong.
MA: We can build a sod house. Sod is dirt held together by grass roots.
TIM: Look! The wind blew my hat away!
NARRATOR: Tim ran to get his hat. The wide plains had no tall trees to stop the wind.
PA: Sod keeps out the wild wind. Our sod house will keep us safe.
MA: Let us put a heavy blanket over the door. That will stop the cold wind from blowing in.
TIM: I like our cozy home! The wind can blow all day.
NARRATOR: The family worked hard together. They made a good home on the windy plains.
