The Yellowhammer Ride

Lily loved birds. She loved their songs and bright colors. Her favorite bird was the Yellowhammer. It was Alabama's state bird!

One sunny day, Lily sat in her backyard. She closed her eyes and wished. She wished she could fly like a bird.

Suddenly, she felt a tickle on her nose. She opened her eyes. A big Yellowhammer was standing right in front of her!

"Hop on!" chirped the Yellowhammer. "I'll take you on a ride!"

Lily couldn't believe her ears. She climbed onto the bird's back. The Yellowhammer flapped its wings. Up, up, up they flew!

They soared over trees and houses. Lily laughed as the wind rushed through her hair. She saw the world from a brand new view. It was like a dream come true!

They flew over a big blue lake. Then they flew over green fields. Lily pointed at cows and horses below. The Yellowhammer chirped happily.

After a while, the Yellowhammer began to descend. They landed gently in Lily's backyard.

"Thank you!" Lily said. "That was the best ride ever!"

The Yellowhammer smiled. Then it flew away into the sunny sky. Lily knew she would never forget her amazing adventure.
