NARRATOR: The hallway of the local middle school buzzed with the electric energy of achievement. Students clustered in small circles, their voices rising in a cacophony of celebration. At the center of one such group stood CiCi, Aneesh, and Graham, three best friends who had turned their sixth-grade science project into a multi-million-dollar tech empire.
HOLDEN: (Sighing heavily) I canāt believe it. Iām happy for them, really, I am. But listening to Graham talk about his third vacation home while Iām still trying to figure out how to pass my pre-algebra quiz is exhausting. Theyāre acting like theyāve conquered the world, and Iām just... here.
NARRATOR: Holden looked down at his shoesāworn sneakers that certainly weren't the legendary 'Air Holdens' he often dreamed of. He adjusted his oversized North Carolina jersey, the bright blue fabric and the number twenty-three a stark contrast to his blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He felt a familiar itch for the extraordinary, a desire to be back in a time where his greatness was already established. Without a word to his friends, Holden slipped into the shadows of the library's restricted section, where his secret project lay hidden.
HOLDEN: (Whispering to himself) I need a reminder of who I really am. I need to see him again.
