It is called Ubuntu (pronounced oo-BOON-too). This word comes from the Zulu and Xhosa languages, and it is often translated as "I am because we are." It means that a person is only a person through their relationships with other people. In other words, we need each other to truly thrive.
At its heart, Ubuntu is about kindness, sharing, and community. Instead of thinking only about ourselves, Ubuntu teaches us to think about how our actions affect those around us. If one person in a community is hurting, then the whole community is affected. Likewise, if one person succeeds, the whole community celebrates.
