Understanding Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the world around us. From suggesting what movies to watch to helping doctors diagnose diseases, AI is becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives. But what exactly is AI, and how does it work?

What is Artificial Intelligence?

At its core, Artificial Intelligence refers to the ability of a computer or machine to mimic human intelligence. This includes things like learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. However, not all AI is created equal. There are different types, mainly categorized by their capabilities.

Narrow or Weak AI

Narrow AI, also known as Weak AI, is designed to perform a specific task. It excels at that task, often surpassing human capabilities, but it cannot generalize its knowledge to other areas. Examples of Narrow AI include spam filters, recommendation systems, and even self-driving cars. While impressive, these systems are limited to their programmed functions.

General or Strong AI

Glossary
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
The ability of a computer to mimic human intelligence, like learning and problem-solving.
Narrow AI:
AI that is designed to perform a specific task.
General AI:
A hypothetical AI with human-level intelligence that can perform any task a human can.
Machine Learning:
A technique that allows computers to learn from data without explicit programming.
algorithms:
Sets of step-by-step rules or mathematical instructions that computers follow to analyze data and solve problems.
Supervised Learning:
A method of machine learning where a computer program is trained using data that has already been labeled with the correct answers.
Reinforcement Learning:
A method of machine learning where a computer learns the best actions through trial and error by receiving rewards or penalties.
