Visiting the Merlion
Welcome to Merlion Park! We are happy you are here today.
The Merlion is a very special statue. It has the head of a lion and the tail of a fish.
The fish tail shows Singapore's past. Long ago, this was a small fishing town.
The lion head shows the city's name. The name means Lion City.
Please help us keep the park clean. Put your trash in the bins.
Do not climb on the statue. Stay safe behind the gates.
Would you like a fun photo? Hold up your hands like a cup.
It will look like you are catching water! The water comes out of the Merlion's mouth.
