Room 2B is excited to invite all second-grade classes to our Sprout Showcase! For the past three weeks, our class has been studying how seeds grow. We planted tiny bean seeds, watered them, and kept them under warm lights. Now, our seeds have sprouted into leafy green plants, and we want to share them with you.

Where:
Room 2B Science Corner (next to the big sunny windows)

When:
Friday, May 10
Visiting times: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

What You Will See:
Our science tables will display clear cups showing seed roots, short green stems, and wide leaves. You can also read the plant journals we made to track their growth each day.

Showcase Rules:
Plants are living things, and our new sprouts are very delicate. Please follow these simple rules to keep our garden safe:

  • Keep hands to yourself. Do not touch or pull on the soft green stems.
  • Hold the paper cups with two hands only if a Room 2B student offers to show you the roots.
  • Walk slowly around the display tables so no pots get knocked over.
  • Use quiet inside voices so everyone can hear our student guides.

Action Needed from Teachers:
Please have your class choose a 15-minute visit window on the sign-up sheet posted outside Room 2B by this Thursday afternoon. We look forward to seeing you at the showcase!

Glossary
sprouted:
Began to grow and send out new green shoots.
roots:
The parts of a plant that grow underground to take in water.
delicate:
Easily broken or damaged; needing careful handling.
stems:
The main stalks of plants that hold up leaves and flowers.
