Early Life

Zheng He wasn't always named Zheng He. He was born in 1371 in Yunnan province, China, with the name Ma He. When he was young, the Ming army captured him. He then became a servant in the palace. Because he was smart and brave, he earned the trust of Prince Zhu Di. Later, Prince Zhu Di became the Emperor, and Ma He was given the name Zheng He.

Voyages of Discovery

From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He led seven expeditions. He sailed to Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and even the east coast of Africa! He brought gifts from China and traded for valuable goods like spices, jewels, and exotic animals. He also helped establish peaceful relationships with other countries.

Impact and Legacy

Zheng He’s voyages were important for many reasons. They showed China’s power and wealth. They also helped spread Chinese culture and technology. Even though his voyages stopped after he died, people still remember Zheng He as one of the greatest explorers in history. He showed the world that China was a powerful and important country.
