Pip's Big Breaths

Pip was a little blue monster. He had soft fur and two tiny horns.

Pip loved to build big towers. He used bright red and yellow blocks.

One day, his tower grew very tall. Then, the tower fell down with a crash.

Pip felt a hot feeling inside. His face turned bright red.

He wanted to stomp his feet. He wanted to roar a loud roar.

"I am so mad!" Pip yelled. He felt like a big storm.

His mother saw him. She walked over and sat down.

"It is okay to feel mad," she said. "But we can help your body feel calm."

"Take a deep breath in," she said. "Blow the air out like a soft wind."

Pip took a big breath. He blew the air out.

"Now, count to five," his mother said. "One, two, three, four, five."

Pip counted on his fuzzy fingers. The hot feeling began to go away.

His face was not red anymore. He felt cool and quiet inside.

"Thank you, Mom," Pip said. He gave her a warm hug.

Then, Pip picked up a yellow block. He started to build a new tower.
