The sun was warm on the farm. A little lamb stood in the green grass.
His name was Lucky. Lucky had soft white wool.
He looked at the big hill. He wanted to run and play.
His mama was eating grass. She was a big sheep.
"Stay close to me," Mama said. "I will," said Lucky.
Lucky saw a blue butterfly. The butterfly flew fast.
Lucky jumped over a small rock. He ran after the blue butterfly.
He went past the red barn. He went near the tall fence.
The butterfly flew high into the sky. Lucky could not see it anymore.
He looked around the field. He did not see his mama.
The grass was very tall here. Lucky felt a little sad.
"Baa! Baa!" Lucky called out. He waited for a sound.
He heard a soft sound back. "Baa! Baa!" it said.
It was his mama! She was coming to find him.
Lucky ran to her fast. He rubbed his head on her side.
"I am here," Mama said. "I am happy you are safe."
They walked back to the shade. The sun was still very warm.
Lucky was a tired little lamb. He lay down in the grass.
His mama stayed right by him. It was a good day on the farm.
The farm was very quiet now. The birds sang in the trees.
The grass felt soft under his feet. Lucky liked to kick his legs.
He was very fast for a baby. He liked to explore the world.
Mama sheep watched him play. She had thick, curly wool.
The farm had many friends. There was a cow and a pig.
But Lucky liked the butterfly best. It had wings that moved fast.
Lucky wagged his little tail. He was happy to be outside.
When he got lost, he was scared. The farm felt very big.
But his mama was never far. She always heard his call.
They ate some sweet clover together. The clover tasted like honey.
Lucky was glad to be with Mama. He would stay close now.
The sun started to go down. The sky turned pink and orange.
It was time for the sheep to rest. They walked to the cozy barn.
Lucky felt warm and loved. He was a lucky lamb indeed.
