Super Flyers of the Pond

Have you ever seen a dragonfly zoom by? They are amazing insects that love the warm sun.

Dragonflies live near water like ponds and lakes. They have four wings that are very strong.

These wings help them fly super fast. They can fly up, down, and even backwards.

A dragonfly can also stop and hover in the air. It looks like a tiny, colorful helicopter.

Dragonflies have huge eyes that cover most of their head. These eyes help them see in all directions.

They can spot small bugs from far away. They catch flies and mosquitoes right out of the air.

Dragonflies come in many bright, beautiful colors. Some are shiny blue, bright green, or deep red.

They look like sparkling jewels flying in the sun. They do not sting or bite humans at all.

They are very helpful because they eat pests. Next time you go to a park, look near the water.

You might see a fast dragonfly zip right past you!
